Slackware 10.1 comes with a SATA.I kernel inside the ISO. This new kernel will allow you to install Slackware onto the SATA drives with and without raid.

Warning! When you install, the SATA.I kernel is not present when you view the list of kernels! But I assure you it is there!

Trying to install Slackware 10.2 with NVRAID. Tried sata.i kernel image and the setup gets as far as formatting the swap space and just hangs.....(finds the partitions fine though....)

Tried test26.s kernel image and it gets as far as trying to install the packages then falls over as soon as it tries to extract the first package in 'A'.

I have an Asus SLI-Premium with a couple of Seagate ST3250823AS 250Gb in an NVRAID striped array.

Any help would be much appeciated...

Thanks,

Mark

I realised that I was suffering from the old Linux 1024 cylinder problem :?

As soon as I moved the partition nearer the start of the disk it worked fine. I am using the sata.i image which is a 2.4 kernel on Slackware 11.0. I have yet to find a straight forward 2.4 to 2.6 migration tutorial for Slackware.....

For Vista users, I recommend using EasyBCD to create a boot record, as peeling it off using DD and using lilo does not work anymore...
